DTN COMMENTS:  Only a few scattered deals have been reported today, with 
just a smattering of bids also noted, but they have been passed. This 
week, Northern dressed deals have been marked at $352 to $363, mostly 
$355, $6 higher than last week's weighted average, basis Nebraska. The 
South had live sales marked at $218 to $221, mostly $219 to $220, $1 to 
$2 higher than last week's weighted averages. It is very likely that we 
will see new record high weekly weighted averages when summaries are 
released on Monday.

Today's slaughter totaled 88,000 head, 1,000 head more than a week ago, 
but 30,000 below last year. Saturday's kill is estimated at 2,000 head, 
bringing the weekly total to 599,000 head, even with the prior week, but 
57,000 less than 2024. Live cattle futures closed mixed, mostly 
moderately lower, off 92 to up 42. Feeder issues also ended the day 
mixed, but mostly sharply lower, off 172 to up 50. Note that only spot 
months wrapped the day up higher. Beef cutouts are expected to close 
lower with light to moderate box movement.
